Successful martial-arts training results in improved performance in all aspects of life and is a very personal experience. Whether it’s improving general fitness; developing and honing life skills such as confidence, discipline and leadership; or training to compete at a high level, the ongoing success of our school is demonstrated daily in the lives of our students.
Ms. Pettijohn is the chief instructor at Raberge’s Leadership Martial Arts. She is a 4th degree black belt, nationally-certified instructor.
She started training with eight members of her family in 2011, who all got their first degree black belts at the same time. She’s one of six in her family who continued on to earn their second degree black belts. “I enjoy it when families learn martial arts together. Everyone learns how to help and support one another, and it definitely brings out a newfound respect for each other.”
The journey to becoming a black belt is a personal one. Nobody’s journey is the same as anyone else’s; each will have their own obstacles to overcome.
“One of the most rewarding parts for me, as an instructor, is watching a student struggling with a technique to not only learn the technique but have enough confidence to show it to the entire class and take pride in themselves.”
